 Like it or not, the departure of Bishop Martino is a done deal. So now we know that a Catholic bishop can be fired-- or at least pressured to resign-- in America today, if powerful colleagues agree that he can't handle the job. 

Does that give you any ideas? Offhand I can think of a dozen bishops who would fit nicely into a quiet retirement home. Now if we can only arrange for a few bouts of insomnia, ...
