Just a thought:
If an American bishop orders his priests to deny Communion to a prominent pro-abortion politician...
And if that prominent politician chooses to challenge the bishop's authority by filing a canonical complaint...
That case would be a very important one, and therefore likely to rise to the level of the Church's highest canonical tribunal, the Apostolic Signatura...
Where Archbishop Raymond Burke would preside.
