"Pro-life Democrat urges Catholics not to base vote on any one issue" reads a headline in U.S. Catholic magazine.
Can you guess the specific issue that our "pro-life" Democrat is particularly concerned we should not use as deal-breaker? I knew you could.
How often have you seen a headline of this stamp?: "Anti-war activist (gay rights campaigner, baby seal advocate …) urges Catholics not to base vote on any one issue."
As Joseph Sobran wrote, abortion is the single issue on which it's wrong to be a single issue voter.

A hundred years from now, when historians look back at our generation, and see how totally and completely deceived it was, they'll shake their heads in disbelief. Abortion will dwarf every social issue we've dealt with since the enlightenment. Nationalistic and tribal genocide, slavery, women's rights, and everything else will pale...but those of us who see the horrow now are treated as pariahs. If they can't get the single issue of the millenium right, I don't trust them on anything else.
