Off the Record

silence

By Diogenes (articles ) | February 16, 2008 10:10 AM

A Las Vegas abortion clinic with the cheerily macabre name of the A to Z Women's Center boasts not only of having "FREE Pregnancy Testing" and "One Day Service" but, on a somewhat more self-conscious note, "Silent Suction Equipment." Now why, I wonder, would silence be such an attractive advantage in this business ...?

The A-Z site repays a couple minutes' browsing. I was interested by the delicate phrasing in which we're informed, regarding an RU-486 "Abortion Pill" termination, that "About 1 in 100 patients will need to have a surgical rescue." So who, in this case, is rescued from what? We're not told. Apparently you have to fork over your $530 to get that information.

I was also edified to read that A-Z promises "We will provide all patients with work/school release letters that do not specify that you had an abortion." I suppose that's all part of keeping abortion safe, legal, and unmentionable. As other commentators have noted, with what other constitutional right are those who exercise that right so ashamed to admit they have done so?

The A-Z facility further provides us with a virtual tour of the premises. I found this tour instructive in a number of ways. We're shown several desks for secretaries and staff, but on none of them do we see the usual photos of children or family, no brightly-crayoned drawings taped in the cubicles. What a curious omission. On the other hand, there's a colorful hanging mobile suspended above the operating table, presumably used to distract the patient (i.e., the adult patient) while the sedatives kick in.

How often, I wonder, has it dawned on the drowsy woman gazing up at that mobile that it was designed for a child's bedroom, and that there is one child who will never see it?

I just made the Virtual Tour and also read about the two Board-Certified OB-GYN "doctors" who lead the staff: Sickening, to say the least. Dr. Ramos, the founder, has performed over 50,000 1st and 2nd trimester abortions and they are advertising that !!! Oh, dear God, how long....

Actually the child WILL see it when he or she dies. That's the really scary part!

Abortion clinics are sick. Putting a child's mobile above the abortion table is even sicker.
