Parodist visits Georgetown, falls on sword

By Diogenes (articles ) | February 08, 2008 11:34 AM

Last October, the president of America's oldest Catholic university revealed that he was wondering:

What are the resources that the Catholic moral tradition brings to the core work of providing an educational environment in which every individual can flourish? Which ways of working towards this goal are most appropriate and authentic to our Catholic and Jesuit identity, and which are not?

These soul-searching questions, you'll be happy to know, were raised at an Open Meeting on LGBTQ Student Resources. And in case you are not the beneficiary of an education in the updated Jesuit tradition, "LGBTQ" stands for "Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered Queer."

Now Georgetown's President John J. DeGioia, together with Provost James J. O’Donnell, have written to the university community "with an update on our LGBTQ Initiative." Their missive makes for challenging reader-- especially for anyone who thinks that parody is an easy business.

Suffice it to say that the university's LGBTQ Resource Coordinator is developing a plan for moving forward-- which is always the best way to move, assuming that you're headed in the right direction.

If your pursuit of alternate lifestyles on the Georgetown campus causes any unpleasant friction, you should make use of the Bias Reporting System at the Center for Multicultural Equity and Access. And don't forget that the Vice President for Institutional Diversity and Equity is there to serve you.

I am not making this up. I couldn't.

I suppose the Jesuits will now allow a Satanist chapel to be established on campus so that that there will be no discrimination tolerated regarding personal inclinations in worship. I cann't imagine that they would object because it fits in well with the LGBTQ lifestyle.

Isn't this the same school that had a big problem last year with an evangelical Protestant group on campus, resulting in the disinvitation of that group? The subversion of this vestigally Catholic school by her guardians, who seek to acccommodate those who practice sodomy and gain the praise of the liberal elites, is stunning and disheartening. The natural law is cast aside; Jesus Christ is mocked; the faithful are mislead as to the immorality of sodomy, all this at a "Catholic" school.

I wonder if a group of "HSQ" students (Heterosexual Students Questioning) could make the same demands, i.e., to establish an "HSQ Resource Center with two fulltime staff, funding for programming, and an accessible campus location," and to intiate "efforts to address HSQ needs and perspectives in areas such as admissions, athletics, study-abroad, and counseling," along with "enhancing the University’s system for reporting incidents of intolerance" toward HSQ students? Probably too much to ask.

To Catholicity: Au contrare, Gays are adopting, Lesbians are reproducing via In Vitro. The ones who are not reproducing in the 21st Century are Cardinals, Bishops & Popes, and for that change we can be grateful. After all, Alexander VI had two children, Caesare & Lucretia Borgia, who, together, gave Papa a grandchild. Sic tempora, sic mores.

When you stop believing in God, you will fall for anything.

If I'm not mistaken, LGBTQ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and QUESTIONING. You see, you have to recruit, since most members don't actually produce any offspring.

Why would anyone think that you were making this up? If you had said that Georgetown had shut down the LGBTQ Student Resource Center because it was incompatible with the Catholic and Jesuit traditions--*that* we would think that you had made up.

Get with the program! "LGBTQ" stands for "Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered Questioning". Been awhile since you were in school, eh?

You have GOT to be making this up!
