still a way to go yet

Church of England deaconess Cindy Kent debuts in the inaugural issue of Thinking Faith, the inauspiciously-named on-line journal of the British Jesuits.
Bearing in mind that nothing is wasted, my hope and prayer is that we will build on what we've learned in the past, be prepared to take off our collective blinkers, and wake up and smell the communion wine!
The wine.

Heresy aside, why do they talk like that? "My hope and my prayer..." "Build on what we've learned in the past [as opposed to "the future"?]". Do the Jesuits have a "Learn to Write Good" class?

You have communion wine in your church, m'dear. WE have the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Of course, this is what passes for progress in aging and sad world 60s/70s- styled "thinking faith." Again and again the questions are asked by a weary flock: why are the Jesuits giving bit space in their online journal to an Anglican woman with delusions of ordination?

What's wrong with that? She's an Anglican. All she's doing is admitting that in her churches, it's still wine.
