Catching up with a long weekend's worth of blogging, here are some things that caught my eye on various Catholic-related blogs:

  • Mark Shea sees the reaction of a sex-abuse victims' advocate to the news of an accused priest's suicide and finds it disturbing that the advocate is only sorry the man won't see the inside of a court, rather than contemplate the eternal judgment the priest has now received.
  • "Gregg the Obscure" has praise for Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver who does the right thing with a priest in an irregular situation, nothing involving the law or moral turpitude, but just a dicey situation.
  • The Accidental Choir Director has an amusing template for pre-Mass announcements by the cantor.
  • William Luse has a "Letter to a Priest" in which he relates the experiences of one Catholic in the pew with liturgical "innovations" by sometimes well-meaning priests and others. (There's no direct link; just page down to the Tuesday, May 20, entry.)
  • "The Mighty Barrister" relates his conversation with a woman who says priests shouldn't be celibate, responding with a set of common sense rebuttals that are a handy reference for dealing with the question.
