As a Red Sox fan I admit that I was troubled by the headline:
Pope signs contract with the Yankees
Oh. Ryan Pope is a baseball player. Relax. Crisis of faith averted.

"Honey, do you allow people to say "go Yanks" on this site??" I believe the "preferential option for the poor" also applies to teams that are under .500 and double digits behind the first place team (i.e., the Sox). Charity, Leila, Charity.

I dunno, Meg. If you turned it around: "Cardinals sign contract with Pope" it might be a consummation devoutly to be wish'd.

Would "Pope signs contract with Cardinals" have been okay? Oh, dear, that *really* looks wrong!

Wow, Phil! What a great start to the century it's turning out to be for you! First the "Curse of the Bambino" goes down, and now perhaps the "Spirit of Vatican II" is on its way out as well! God Bless the Holy Father! p.s. Go Yanks!!!
