On Monday, blogger Boethius at Fumare noticed that the USCCB's Communications Calendar listed the upcoming Call To Action slurpfest (the name & phone number of media contact Linda Pieczynski were included). On Tuesday morning it was picked up by AMDG and then Amy. By Tuesday afternoon the USCCB had slapped its administrative brow and removed the CTA listing from its calendar.
Not quite as ill-behaved as her dam, the late NCCB, the Bishops' Conference is still a very bad puppy. When left on her own, she slips collar and chain, bolts outside, and inevitably finds some foul carrion to roll in: the CTA's is only the latest carcass among many. Thank God, the ortho-blogs can give her that gentle but firm swat across the snout. With a virtual newspaper.
It's a nuisance, sure, to be obliged to take corrective measures in the first place. But fifteen years ago we'd have no recourse at all.

Janet, That squiggly thing is a dove. Guess it's supposed to be the Holy Spirit, but as we all know the real Holy Spirit is not with Call to Action. What is the blue dot with the colorful triangle things? I think the people resprsent the 3 kinds of sexuality - 2 lesbians, 2 homosexuals, and 2 heterosexuals.

Yes, both women on the left are wearing stoles. Call to Apostasy is not a result of VC2 but rather from Genesis 3: "Ye shall be as Gods!" was the claim the serpent made to Adam and Eve. There were feminists and nuns clucking to be ordained long before J23 convened VC2. The spirit of CTA is the spirit of Lambeth -- not VC2 -- where through contraception, sex neutrality, and later, abortion, we became like malevolent gods with power to destroy. Paul VI did not want THIS!

Regarding the picture - what is that squigly thing hanging on the wall to the left? And the second person to the left - is that a woman wearing a priest's stole?

Indeed, Eleazar! These folks are of the kind that Paul VI was referring to when he proclaimed that the smoke of Satan had infiltrated the hallowed walls of the Vatican. But these are not the “liberals,” “leftists” or “progressives” that patriot refers to. Those labels don’t suit them. These are the New Order modernists, the Vatican II-inspired version of the evildoers that Pius warned us were intent on “reforming” the Church. Ah, but self-inflicted wounds are almost always deadly…

Does anyone who is not a member of the USCCB eally pay much attention to what they say? They have become a legend in their own minds. generally ignored by most , I believe.

God is Good! The progressives, liberals, leftists, reformers, or whatever these poor souls call themelves have absolutely the tackiest, cheesiest aesthethics and tinkling, jingley music this side of a supermarket aisle. The fascists and communists outdid themselves in competing for horrendous art--only to be faced with our own contributions from the halls of Madison Avenue to the Archdiocesan Cathedral in LA.

It's unfortunate that the USCCB took the link off their calendar. Perusing their agenda and list of speakers (http://www.cta-usa.org/conference2006/intro.html) was certainly enlightening. Clearly, these folks are the “smoke of Satan” that is polluting the Church. It might be worth the effort for Catholic World News to attend and report on the mischief that they’re up to.

And God said "let there be light..." When the Bill of Rights was written "the press" was just that a guy with a printing press. Then corporations began buying up the presses. Then conglomerates bought up the corporations. The bloggers have restored the "original intent" of the "right to a free press".
