Almsgiving X

By Diogenes (articles ) | August 07, 2004 6:56 PM

Retired Maronite Catholic Archbishop Francis Zayek donated to Senator Kerry, and current Maronite cathedral rector Father Abdallah E. Zaidan-- who is also the American superior of the Congregation of Maronite Lebanese Missionaries-- has given $1,250 to congressmen renowned for their support of abortion and homosexuality.

Other prominent Maronite clerics, however, have directed their alms to a Maronite pro-life congressman. Bishop John Chedid, the retired shepherd of the Los Angeles Maronite eparchy, has given $500 to Illinois Rep. Ray Lahood. And Bishop Stephen Doueihi, who succeeded Archbishop Zayek as shepherd of the Brooklyn Maronite eparchy, has given $2,750 to Lahood since 1997.

A reprise:

  • almsgiving I-V: the Nashville vocation director / Tennessee Knights of Columbus chaplain, a Denver priest, a college president, the Atlanta vicar general, and Archbishop Zayek
  • almsgiving VI: Dr. Antoinette Iadarola, the president of Cabrini College, gave $500 to pro-abortion Senator Arlen Specter.
  • almsgiving VII: Detroit priest Father Anton Kcira gave $1,300 to Wesley Clark and a pro-abortion congressman.
  • almsgiving VIII: Maronite Catholic cathedral rector and religious order superior Father Abdallah Zaidan gave $1,250 to candidates who favor abortion and gay rights.
  • almsgiving IX: Chaminade University President Mary Wesselkamper gave $1,500 to pro-abortion Senator Inouye.

Diogenes, you may not get a lot of comment on these but I hope you will keep the series going because it's useful information.
