Suppose you're the lay president of a Catholic university founded by the Society of Mary. You have $1,500 in your pocket and are inspired to give it away. To whom, or what, do you direct your alms?
(a) to a Marian shrine
(b) to another spiritual or corporal work of mercy
(c) to Senator Daniel K. Inouye, who has a 100% pro-abortion voting record and is a longtime opponent of efforts to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman.
If you're Dr. Mary C. Wesselkamper, president of Chaminade University of Honolulu, your answer is (c).

Vice Mayor kavanaugh of Mesa, AZ, publicly proclaims in print that he is in effect no longer a Catholic, but a liberal protestant. Yet he insists on his "right" to be a lector in a Catholic parish. Is there no one with a flaming sword to cast out this infidel ? Or have we become the "Roman version" of the U.C.C., believing and doing whatever we may arrogantly please ? There will be a day of reconing, and the dioceses of Arizona will go the way of those once on the West coast of Asia Minor !
