Another view on Kerry and Communion

By Phil Lawler (bio - articles ) | Apr 12, 2004

The problem really isn't Kerry, writes Pat Buchanan; it's the US bishops:

Rather than acting as a pride of lions defending Catholic truth, they have, with rare exception, acted like a rabbit warren.

There's a lot more here.

I'm with benbernie. What CAN we do? Whenever I have tried to discuss this business with a priest or bishop, I get figuratively patted on the head, blessed, and dismissed. Someone (can't remember who) started a letter-writing campaign to her bishop, and the bishop turned around and had all the mail sent back to her! I've written dozens of pages of protests here and there - respectful and to the point - to no avail. If someone comes up with an answer, I'll be there to help.

Doesn't someone know how to create a petition list on the net so we can put our voices together and demand action on the part of the Bishops or at least to shame them into action? Why must we simply sit idly by while the whole country is scandalized and the Church's greatest treasure is belittled and trashed by those who are supposed to defend it? Can't we at least demand a real explanation? What is going on? Could it the collection plate? Oh, of course, that's what it is! What else?

All that they need to do is read the Vatican document put out by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (Ratzinger - praise God) in January of 2003 which spells out exactly the role of the Catholic politician. They do not have to deny communion. All they have to do is SPEAK about how they(Kerry) are WRONG and they will have to ANSWER to GOD. They NEVER speak about this - so you WONDER what side THEY(bishops) are on. McCarrick also protects Georgetown as they use aborted fetus cells.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,116789,00.html Here is the link to the interview with Cardinal McCarrick. Zero leadership. No spine. And he is the head of the task force of how the bishop's should deal with wayward politicians. Kerry is a scandal but a compromising the truth Cardinal is far worse.

At least our Cardinals (e.g., McCarrick) and most bishops (with the exception of Caput, Burke, et. al.) are consistent. They turn the heads (if not other parts of their body) on the gay priests firestorm and now they're showing their true colors on abortion. They may stand before abortion clinics or parade in front of the Capital. However, when it comes to taking real action they just smile and sweetly double talk.
