Hopping along the bunny trail

By Diogenes ( articles ) | Apr 12, 2004

Last week, a Pennsylvania church was in the news for a Passion play that included an Easter bunny being whipped.

A church trying to teach about the crucifixion of Jesus performed an Easter show with actors whipping the Easter bunny and breaking eggs, upsetting several parents and young children. ... Melissa Salzmann, who took her 4-year-old son J.T., said the program was inappropriate for young children. “He was crying and asking me why the bunny was being whipped,” Salzmann said.
Of course, it was all cleared up later and everyone had an embarrassed laugh when they discovered they had accidentally stumbled into a Jesuit workshop on "affectively present" celibacy.
