CHECKING OUT VOTF

By Fr. Wilson (articles ) | January 13, 2004 3:52 PM

Danny DeBruin joined the Long Island chapter of Voice of the Faithful. He participated, even filling an office, and watched, and pondered. And now he has written a very fine article about the experience. Nicely done

I remember being approached by VOTF for membership and after looking over their info and goals, I scratched my head and wondered, ".......I kinda thought the Church's Voice was the Holy Spirit, not mine or anyone's else's......." and decided to decline their offer and trust God. I guess if you gotta be PC, you could say something like "choose your battles wisely...." but as for me, I'll stay on God's side - He always wins!

"And are we really to believe that McBrien’s left-wing ideology is unconnected with VOTF’s third goal?" We would be rather naive to believe that. "He did after all advise Jim Muller on the formation of those same goals (why has this fact not been made public?)." Has this been proven? My understanding is that Father McBrien advised Father Cuenin and other Priests Forum types on how to "get to goal Number 3" by using the lay folk, rather than priests, to put on the pressure -- hence, VOTF.
