Catholic Culture Liturgical Living

a quick read to lift the spirits

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Aug 28, 2010

Want to read a really positive, uplifting piece about a practice that doesn't ordinarily get much attention, but is absolutely crucial to the lives of the people involved?

I'm talking about adoption: in this case, international adoption.

There's a lot to like in this piece. My favorite is the immigration officer.

Enjoy.

My wife and I have been blessed to be able to build a family both "biologically" & through adoption. Adoptions are usually very emotional & often very expensive. But it's so worth it. Sadly, many dioceses have been forced out of providing good, affordable adoption services. However, there are some great organizations out there who are doing their best to promote life. So as we fight abortion, let's pray for and support those who are choosing life---the birth mothers and the adoptive parents.

Yes this is a beautiful piece, but doesn't it break your heart to realize that millions of these precious children are killed by abortion, too many of them funded by our tax dollars both here in our country and internationationally. Clearly these children are wanted.
