Brent Society breakfast

By Phil Lawler ( bio - articles - email ) | Sep 25, 2008

If you live in the DC area and can get to Great Falls on Sunday morning, I'd be happy to meet Catholic Culture users at the Brent Society breakfast, where I'll be speaking.

There will be a Solemn High Mass at 10:30 at St. Catherine of Siena parish, followed by the breakfast at 12:15.

If you can make it, please make sure to say Hello!

So true Phil but sadly most Christians (including good clergy) tend to bury their heads and hope all this hype will go away. There is no doubt in my mind that forest storm of abuse and hysteria is only to increase - sadly to the dissolution of democratic freedoms for all.

Those young men were guilty of only one thing they were full of LIFE. They were well behaved and their parents can be proud of them, what poise under such circumstance. At first I thought the worst and then I saw that young man stand there with the drum beating in his face and he returned no insult and I thought how beautiful is the Face of Christ. You in my prayers. John McLaughlin Cherry Hill, NJ

I am proud of the Covington students and particularly the young man who stood his ground against the planned verbal attacks. Our so called leaders of the March for Life and Pro Life groups should be ashamed. Don't they know the enemy will do anything to divide us. You can't bargain with the left or expect fair treatment. Their purpose is to detroy anything and anyone pro life. Working on our kids is fair game to them. We should buy into their game. That goes for our so called leaders.

Great column, Phil. By the way, have you read anything about the March for Life? Our newspaper doesn't have much!

The MSM and internet trolls did not surprise me. The Diocese of Covington did surprise me. They threw these students under the bus without so much as a minimal investigation and without hearing the student's side of the story. And we wonder why young people are leaving in droves. Just a disgusting response by the hierarchy in Covington (and Louisville)

When the core of the society is full of cancer, and starvation and madness set in, the parents resort to eating their own young. As one would expect of a communist, this was applauded by the Left in the abortion movement, but now seems to have found its way to the Christians in high profile positions who have become accustomed to seeking the approval of their enemies.

The high school boys who went from Kentucky to the Nation's capital to march for life, and were subjected in the process to so much verbal abuse and condemnation from every side (including their own bishop), are the heroes. They responded with calm and dignity to all very obvious nasty provocations.

This is an excellent post, Phil. Now if only I can convince you that these *exact same* tactics are being utilized by the left when it comes to the Catholic sex abuse story!

It often seems that those who rant the loudest against bullying tactics are the first to use them themselves. The last U.S. Administration and its entrenched bureaucracy continue to foster racial, sexual, and religious hatred 2 years after the leadership vacated the White House. The November elections demonstrated this, and the elections next year will prove it true again. At least one Catholic student refused to cower before the assault in Washington. More should follow his courageous example.
