A Noteworthy Newman Conference in Pittsburgh in August

By Dr. Jeff Mirus ( bio - articles - email ) | Jul 15, 2010

The National Institute for Newman Studies will host the 2010 conference of the Newman Association of America in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania August 5 - 7, 2010. The theme of the conference is “A Reflection on the Life, Work and Spirituality of John Henry Newman in Celebration of His Beatification”, which will take place in England in September.

Over 25 speakers will deliver papers on John Henry Cardinal Newman’s life and work. In addition, Deacon Jack Sullivan (who was healed in what became Newman’s first officially-acknowledged miracle in his cause for beatification) will be the guest homilist at the opening Mass at St. Paul Cathedral on August 5th.

Many of our users may be interested in attending what should be an outstanding event for Newman scholars, disciples and admirers. Please visit the website of the Newman Association of America for details.

Jeffrey Mirus holds a Ph.D. in intellectual history from Princeton University. A co-founder of Christendom College, he also pioneered Catholic Internet services. He is the founder of Trinity Communications and CatholicCulture.org. See full bio.
