I confess I forgot about it. When the Pontifical Council for Culture devoted its plenary assembly in 2006 to "The Way of Beauty" as an approach to evangelization, I wanted to get the document they published after that gathering. It took a long while to come out in English, however, and when it did, it fell between the cracks.

Lately I've been hitting the relationship between faith and culture fairly hard (see, for example, my latest: The Beginning of a Catholic Culture), and it occurred to me that I've been pretty slow in addressing the relationship between the arts and culture. That's a deficiency because many people (wrongly) identify the idea of culture more or less exclusively with the arts....
