I admit it. I'm very dubious about the current tendency of Americans to let the Federal government take over every time there's a problem. In Caritas in Veritate, Pope Benedict outlined some very important principles regarding this tendency to constantly resort to the State. It is not the mark of a healthy society.

On the health care scene, I'm more than dubious. According to the Catholic Medical Association, all current House and Senate health reform bills will make things worse with respect to ethics, costs, personal control and even the quality of medical care....
