As Phil Lawler points out today, it is both good and remarkable that Archbishop Wenski of Miami has publicly taken Bishop Lynch of St. Petersburg to task for blaming the Catholic Faith for the Orlando massacre in a gay bar: Archbishop Wenski delivers a deserved rebuke to a fellow bishop.

Phil also explains why the California case requiring Catholic institutions to provide abortion coverage was predictable. Even the bishops have not treated the universities central to the suit as if they were Catholic. See Catholic institutions cleared the path for the latest assault on religious freedom.
