eNewsletter Subject: Always Strengthening the Church

As I mentioned in yesterday's message launching our Fall Campaign, CatholicCulture.org gears all of its resources toward building a stronger Church.

I only used one example in that message, namely my review of Louis Bouyer's striking Memoirs, which will be released next month by Ignatius Press. The title of the review gets right to the point: Louis Bouyer’s Memoirs: A portrait of the twentieth-century Church.

Indeed, to read the Memoirs is to gain tremendous insight into the tensions of the Church in the twentieth century which resulted in so many poor practices in the first half of the century, with (if possible) an even worse reaction against them in the second half.

Fast forward to the present, and we find an eminent pastor mocking Catholic teaching on marriage in Boston's archdiocesan newspaper. See my latest City Gates piece: The Sins of the Fathers: Will Msgr. Paul Garrity be disciplined?...
