It seems that each day the pressure on Christians grows a little greater. Of course, we ought always to feel an intense yearning for greater holiness. But there is no lack of unkind reminders of our vocations as saints!

In this connection, I find it very interesting that my own Diocese of Arlington is sponsoring a morning of prayer and talks on this sobering theme: Religious liberty for how long? How to prepare spiritually for the coming persecution.

And just yesterday, two of our writers were invoking the intercession of Sts. Thomas More and John Fisher for their help and protection in this time of growing persecution:
