A Curia in Need of Reform?

Even while Pope Francis is working on the reform of the Curia, there comes a rare outburst from the Prefect of the Congregation for Religious against the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

But in classic Vatican style, the difference of opinion is immediately denied. I suspect the immediate resignation of Cardinal Braz de Aviz would have been more to the point.

See Phil Lawler's commentary. This sort of thing is embarrassing, but we must remember that Curial reform is still under study; it has not yet begun.

Some press criticism would doubtless by justified, but Phil has also noticed that, as usual, the press is busy attacking the wrong things: Criticizing cardinals for things they never said.... [more content for subscribers]
