Battling, and Living

It is sad that we are still fighting critical battles in the Church and the world that were fully-engaged a generation ago or more. But as Chesterton said in the Battle of the White Horse of the Christian fight against the pagan Danes:

...though all lances split on you,
All swords be heaved in vain,
We have more lust again to lose
Than you to win again.

Phil Lawler focuses on two of these battles in his On the News column this week:

The fight over abortion, now going on in Ireland (and nearly everywhere): Time travel. Or, a disingenuous argument for new abortion legislation in Ireland.
The fight for Catholic colleges and universities, now going on in the United States (and nearly everywhere): Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and the band played on.
