Bad Religion is the title of a fascinating new book by Ross Douthat, a clear-thinking Catholic who is, amazingly, a regular op-ed columnist for the New York Times. The book explains a good deal about why America's Christians so seldom effectively engage their culture.

I suspect some of this applies worldwide. See Phil Lawler's excellent review: Douthat's excellent critique of American heresies.

Speaking of effective cultural engagement, the United States Supreme Court may not be done with Obamacare. Apparently the Southern Baptist Liberty University has brought an appeal worth hearing: Supreme Court orders lower court to hear challenge to HHS mandate.
