The Synod Speaks to the People of God

The final message of the Synod for the New Evangelization is an impressive challenge to deepen our faith, share it with others, and renew all things in Christ. Every Catholic should read this and take it to heart. See:

In reflecting on the need for a new evangelization, many bishops have also realized that the Church has to become once again a counter-cultural force, rather than allowing herself to be absorbed by the modern State. This is beginning to happen, for example, in the United States. See my On the Culture essay: The Light Dawns: American Bishops and the State.

Speaking of politics, there is no question that the American presidential campaign is distracting Just About Everybody from supporting their usual non-political non-profit causes. This leads me to offer my final word on moral voting in A Note on Political Choices, and Political Lies and The Strongest Argument for Romney.
