Pope Benedict has spoken out strongly against what he sees as the increasing cult of the world financial sector. I explain what he is complaining about in On the Culture: The Pope on the Financial Sector’s Divinity.
Since it is nice to consider something besides the HHS mandate for a change, I also comment on some of the signs emerging in Catholic higher education: Catholic Universities: Steps on the Way Back.
But the USCCB is still mounting a major campaign against the HHS mandate, focusing on conscience rights. Phil Lawler and I have some important cautions about what is going on here.
