Announcements aside, I think we have to start with politics today, and particularly European politics. The Lisbon Treaty, which incorporates more than a score of formerly independent European nations under a single, non-democratic, secularist European government, is now a reality. I highly recommend that you read Phil Lawler's analysis of what this means: The powerful new EU: a setback for democracy.

Then there's our own American health care woes, with a pro-abortion House bill to be voted up or down tomorrow. You'll recall, perhaps, that the U.S. Bishops committed themselves at the last minute to stopping this bill. Here's Phil's comment on their ull-court press, continued.
